BEIJING - China Railway Corporation (CRC) said Wednesday it expects 92.7 million railway trips to be taken during the travel rush of the week-long National Day holiday.

The travel rush will start on Sept 28, three days ahead of the National Day, and end on Oct 7, the corporation said, predicting the traffic to peak on Oct 1, with passengers exceeding 10 million on that day.

CRC said it will coordinate efforts and add extra trains to cope with the extra traffic.

The National Day holiday, known as the golden week, has become an annual tourism event for Chinese, increasingly well-off and willing to spend more on leisure and entertainment.
