China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors' Association have come out with a list that ranks top 500 Chinese companies in 2014.

The ranking was released in Chongqing municipality on Sept 2.

All the top 19 firms are State-owned enterprises, with Sinopec sitting at the top.

JD.com, Tencent, Inspur and Baidu, four technology firms, have also made it to the list. The total revenue of the firms reached 206.83 billion yuan ($33.51 billion), up 40 percent compared to the previous year.

According to Li Jianming, vice-chairman of China Enterprise Confederation, the reason why Alibaba is not on the list is because Alibaba's IPO is under process and its financial management data is not available at the moment.

Unlike the "Fortune Global 500", the top 500 Chinese enterprises list is ranked by the data reported by the companies themselves. Although some of the firms have broken through the entry limit of 20 billion yuan revenue, they have been unable to make it to the list.

Here's a look at the top 10 companies in China based on revenue:

No. 10 China National Offshore Oil Corp

China National Offshore Oil Corporation,or CNOOC, the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China, is a State-owned company operating directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. The revenue of the firm is 590 billion yuan in 2014.
