Chen Xinbao and Zhang Yanhui are fishermen living in Qingdao, a city in East China's Shandong province. They were hired by the local government to clean enteromorpha two years ago.

Enteromorpha is marine plants that flourish near shallow coastal areas in June and July. Cleaning enteromorpha has two advantages. First, it earns the fishermen some money in the summer months when fishing is banned. Second, it stops enteromorpha from spreading to the beach.

Chen said he collects 600 bags of enteromorpha ever day and earns 4 yuan ($0.64) per bag.
