"Now we only invest 3 percent of Latin America's GDP into infrastructure construction. We hope that this number could double. In order to achieve that, trust funds need to be built to enhance the ties with China," he said.
Michel Camdessus, former managing director of the International Monetary Fund, has stressed his confidence in the increasingly important role of renminbi in the global financial arena.
"China's economy has been quite stable. It has also dedicated itself to ensuring the interest of the global economy. Renminbi is going to have a higher profile in the international currency scheme, which is based on the collaboration between China and other countries," said Camdessus.
