China's economic data in May
Retail sales up 10.7 percent
Total retail sales of consumer goods in May reached 2.95 trillion yuan ($433 billion), up by 10.7 percent year-on-year, the same growth rate as the previous month.
In urban areas, retail sales tallied 2.54 trillion yuan, a rise of 10.4 percent compared to the same time last year, while in rural areas the figure was 409.9 billion yuan, a 12.7 percent increase.
Catering services earned 321.1 billion yuan, enjoying 11.6 percent growth year-on-year, and sales of goods was worth 2.62 trillion yuan, up by 10.6 percent.
