Malaysian businessmen seeking to expand trade with China
KUALA LUMPUR — Cross-border trading in Malaysia has been experiencing exponential growth with Chinese products highly sought here, according to 11street, Malaysia's No 2 online market place on Monday.
Chuljin Yoon, chief operating officer of 11street, said the total order for Chinese products grew by 900 percent, with 70 percent of these orders falling under the home improvement and personal care categories.
Chuljin Yoon made the remarks here at an online shopping promotional campaign launch event.
"We used to have a lot of products from South Korea and the US, but in these days the price of the Chinese products is very competitive. People here still want to look for lower prices with good quality," he told Xinhua in an interview after the launch ceremony.
"So we try to source more products from China this year, that's why we approach the mega sellers in China this year to get them onboard our platform," he said.
One of the mega-sellers is Globalegrow E-commerce, an online cross-border trading company based in Shenzhen in southern China's Guangdong province.
Sundy Wu, its deputy general manager, said since their cooperation with 11street in last year, they have seen double-digit or even triple-digit growth each month, though he declined to reveal the sales number.
