German carmaker Volkswagen started pre-sale in China during of its iconic all-new Beetle during the 16th Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao International Auto Show that runs from June 7 to 12.
The imported model has power options of 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter turbocharged stratified injection engines. The 1.2-liter version will retail between 200,000 and 251,000 yuan. The 1.4-liter version will sell for 230,000 to 300,000 yuan.
The muscular Beetle that will officially hit the Chinese market later this year will offer the first-ever 1.2-liter TSI engine in China, which combines dynamic performance and fuel efficiency. The 1.2-liter Beetle accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 10.9 seconds and has a top speed of 180km/h. It only consumes 5.9 liters of gasoline per 100km. The 1.4-liter version accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds and its top speed is 208km/h. Its fuel consumption averages 6.6 liters per 100km.
