Lifan drives ahead new-energy plans with 20 NEV cars

By Hao Yan (China Daily) Updated: 2015-06-15 09:35

Lifan's passenger car sales in the first five months of this year reached 48,744, 5 percent more than during the same period of last year.

The firm's passenger car sales volume surged 18.72 percent year-on-year to 135,468 units in 2014, according to the Shanghai Stock Exchange listed Lifan Industry (Group) Co's report.

Charging post construction

Beijing and Shanghai issued policies this month to promote public charging posts in newly built properties and parking lots.

However, the current public charging posts are not compatible with removable batteries, as the batteries need special devices for recharging.

Many companies have helped construct charging posts and the equipment is not restricted to certain car brands.

Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Company vowed last year to build the world's largest direct current fast charger network by 2020.

Last month, Yidao Yonche joined the new-energy arm of State-owned Potevio Co to build 1,000 charging posts in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Although Tesla Motors uses a specialized charging standard and plug, last year it said its charging stations in China would be compatible with the finalized national standard, which is still in the pipeline.
