Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp said on Tuesday it will use a new domain for its worldwide customers.

It is Xiaomi's latest attempt to consolidate its resources for a bigger market share on the Chinese mainland.

Xiaomi will retain its online sales strategy as it goes global, said Lei Jun, founder and CEO of the Beijing-based company.

"We want to provide products and services that offer an impeccable user experience and seamlessly integrate software and hardware."

Lei also expressed a willingness to find local partners in overseas markets.

"We also want to partner with entrepreneurs to provide innovative and localized mobile Internet experiences to users around the world."

All visits to the old web address will be redirected automatically to the new domain, mi.com, according to the company.

Smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi are currently available in Hong Kong, Taiwan and a number of Southeast Asian economies.

"Xiaomi is now looking to launch in markets beyond Asia," a company statement said.

During the first quarter of 2014, Xiaomi sold 11 million handsets. The company estimates it will ship 60 million handsets before the end of this year.
