Intel to invest $1.5b in China mobile chipmakers

BEIJING - Intel on Friday said it has agreed to invest 9 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) for a 20 percent stake in a new holding company under Tsinghua Unigroup which owns leading mobile chipmakers Spreadtrum Communications and RDA Microelectronics.

The deal is still subject to regulatory approvals.
