Data from Digi-Capital, a research firm, showed the market size of AR is expected to reach $120 billion by 2020, much higher than the size of $30 billion for the VR market.

In the second half of 2015, many international companies including Legendary Pictures, the Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. entered the AR field.
