Mengqi, the first transsexual singer in China, attempted to commit suicide last week by cutting her left wrist. Fortunately, she was saved. Mengqi left her last words on her personal website, in which she complained about the discrimination she had endured in her work after she changed gender from a man to a woman. After posting her statement, she disappeared. She called her assistant, Gao, before trying to kill herself and told him where she was. Gao went to her apartment immediately, only to find that she had already cut her left wrist with a razor. Gao managed to stop her and send her to hospital.

Thanks to the hospital staff, Mengqi is now safe but she is still very emotionally sensitive.
