Chinese actress and director Xu Jinglei last week claimed the title of the world's most popular blogger when her website clocked 100 million hits. The unassuming 33-year-old was the first to reach the landmark, winning fans with musings on her everyday life.
Since October 2005, Xu has posted daily accounts on such matters as what she watched on TV, and the antics of her two pet cats, Weibo and Weiqun (Scarf and Apron). A weekend blog about the American TV show Prison Break reportedly attracted nearly 800 comments.
While Xu also keeps subscribers updated on her film projects, she has steered away from the sex and scandal that have seen other bloggers shoot to cyber-fame.
The prolific key-tapper devotes 20 minutes each day to her blog, with each entry attracting some 100,000 views and up to 1,000 comments.
Sina.com reported the 100 millionth hit on the morning of July 12, making international headlines.
Mid last-year, leading blog search engine, Technorati recorded her site receiving more incoming links than any other on the Internet.
