Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co Ltd, China's largest automobile glassmaker,
will produce 11 million pieces of automobile glass by the end of the year,
vice-president Bai Yaohua said on June 17. Production volume will reach 13
million pieces by the end of next year after the establishment of the Beijing
and Guangzhou branches, he said.
Established in East China's Fujian Province in 1987, the company's registered
capital rose from 6.27 million yuan to 6.7 billion yuan (US$837.19 million) in
2006, and export volume stood at more than US$100 million in 2005.
As a key original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Fuyao Glass has around 80
foreign customers including Audi, FAW, Hyundai, Holden, Suzuki, Mitsubishi and
Tucson.
In 2004, the Fuyao Group established the first float glass production line
with an investment of 1.7 billion yuan, and annual production value reached 900
million yuan in 2005 with the addition of two more production lines, bringing
the total to seven.
With more than 300 chain stores in domestic large and medium-size cities, the
group owns about 40 percent of the auto maintenance market. With four global
sales centers in Hong Kong, the United States, Australia, and Russia it also
supplies automobile glass on a global scale.
"Forty years ago,
automobile glass was just used to keep rain and wind out of the the car," said
Bai. "But now, we must take into consideration things such as environmental
protection, comfort and security in terms of our design."
Fuyao Group offers a variety of automobile glass products, including
laminated glass, tempered glass, insulated glass, encapsulated glass,
bullet-resistant glass, solar control glass and silver
mirrors.
