CITIC-Prudential Life Insurance Co will insure the China Open tennis
tournament with a policy valued at 400 million yuan (US$50.4 million).
CITIC-Prudential will provide insurance services for players, staff,
volunteers and audiences of the annual tennis event. In addition to having the
organizing committee and its staff covered against public liability and accident
risk, the Sino-British joint venture will provide a maximum coverage of 50,000
yuan group accident insurance for ticket-holders.
The 2006 Tennis China Open, sponsored by the General Administration of Sport
and the Beijing Municipal Government, will run from September 9 to 24. The China
Open, which aims to become the fifth tennis open tournaments worldwide after the
Australia Open, Wimbledon Open, French Open and US Open, will hand out a total
of US$110,000 in prize money.
