Established in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 1865, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited is the founding member of the HSBC Group - one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations - and its flagship in the Asia-Pacific region.

In the mainland of China, HSBC has had a continuous presence since it opened in Hong Kong and Shanghai more than 140 years ago. In May 2000, HSBC moved its China head office from Hong Kong to Pudong, Shanghai. This move further demonstrates HSBC's long-term commitment to its China business.

HSBC's current network in the mainland of China comprises 26 outlets, including 13 branches in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan and Xiamen, and 13 sub-branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin.
