Ace Hardware establishes warehousing center

Ace Hardware Corporation, the largest hardware retailer in the United States, announced on November 2 that its subsidiary AGD had set up its first warehousing center in Shanghai.

The new warehouse, located in the Waigaoqiao Bonded Logistics Zone in Pudong District, covers an area of 1,394 square meters. With a preliminary warehousing capacity of 1,000 kinds of goods from over 50 suppliers, it will enable the retailer to procure every kind of good and allocate them directly to its international franchisees without integrating them in its American headquarters in advance, which can dramatically cut costs, according to Ray Griffith, president and CEO of Ace Corp.

Ace owns more than 4,600 independent franchisees in 70 countries worldwide. There are 14 distribution centers in the Untied States with an annual total retail sales of US$13 billion.
