Cash subsidies will be granted to airlines to help lower prices on services to smaller cities, said China's General Administration of Civil Aviation yesterday.

Air China and Hainan Airlines won a 10-million-yuan (US$1.25 million) subsidy to fly feeder routes in northwest China. The airlines have launched four feeder routes from Xining, capital of Qinghai, to Golmud, and from another hub, Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, to three nearby cities - Yan'an, Ankang and Qingyang.
