Daqin railway achieves full-year target in advance

As of 6 pm, December 24, 2006, the Daqin railway achieved its full-year target of 250 million tons seven days ahead of schedule, following 150 million tons in 2004 and 200 million tons in 2005.

It contributed greatly to alleviating energy transportation stress, and created a miracle in the world's railway heavy-duty transportation.

The 653-kilometer line, with a design capacity of 100 million tons, links Datong City in North China'sShanxiProvince, and the port city of Qinhuangdao inHebeiProvince. According to the Ministry of Railways, during the11th Five-Year Programperiod (2006-2010), railway departments will speed up the construction of coal transportation lines and continue the capacity expansion of the Daqin railway.
