China exports 13,000 tons of sugar to Indonesia

Indonesia's State-run plantation company PTPN-11 has bought 13,000 tons of sugar from China to meet demands mainly in Sulawesi island, as the bulk of the import had already been delivered, an official said Friday.

"The imported sugar will be distributed to South Sulawesi (9,000 tons) and Central Sulawesi (4,000 tons)," head of the South Sulawesi's industry and trade office Anton Mamonto was quoted by the national Antara news agency as saying.

The island has received 9,600 tons from China and the remaining3,400 tons are expected to enter South Sulawesi's Makassar Port later this month.

PTPN XI was entitled with the right to import 44,000 tons of sugar for several provinces in Sulawesi and Sumatra.
