Georg Fischer to build iron foundry

Switzerland-based Georg Fischer is to build an iron foundry in Kunshan, East China. This modern plant will begin operation in the spring of 2009 and will supply the local automotive industry and globally operating carmakers with safety components, according to Georg Fischer Automotive (Suzhou) Co Ltd, its subsidiary in China.

An investment of 50 million Swiss francs (US$41.21 million) is planned for the first construction phase. These investments in cast iron will be spread over the next three years.

Along with additional investments to expand capacity at GF Piping Systems, the corporation's investment volume in 2007 will climb to 180-190 million Swiss francs.
