China's LCD TV output reached 6.34 million sets in the first half of 2007, up 65.4 percent on the previous year, statistics from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) show. "The LCD TV has gained a bigger market share over the past two years. More and more people choose LCD TVs due to the price cut," an official with the MII said.
According to statistics, output of plasma TV sets went down 28 percent to 235,000 in the first six months. The rear-projection TV, however, is withdrawing from the market. The first half of this year witnessed a 90-percent-plus slump in the production of rear-projection TV, which was merely 47,000. China produces more than half of the world's total color TV sets. Despite a slowdown since 2003, China's color TV production remains an annual growth at a double-digit rate. |
