China to hold int'l logistics forum next year

China will hold an International Logistics Enterprises Cooperation Summit next year from January 10 to 11 in Beijing, siad vice-President of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing Dai Dingyi yesterday, according to www.voc.com.cn.

The forum will include a series of meetings on the topic of "opportunity and value: the opening up of the Chinese logistics market." It will provide a platform for logistics enterprises from home and abroad.

The meetings will include subjects such as investment strategies and merger and acquisitions amongst Chinese logistics enterprises, the development of logistics informationalization and standardization, and the development of manufacture logistics and outsourcing services, said Dai.

The Chinese logistics industry has begun a new development stage, said Dai. He added international logistics enterprises and strategic investors are showing more interest in the Chinese market since the logistics industry opened in 2005.

Figures show the total value of social logistics goods in the first half of this year increased 25.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile value-added of logistics grew 17.2 percent, higher than GDP growth at 11.5 percent.
