SsangYong Motor Co., a unit of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., will launch its Chairman W luxury sedan in China at the Beijing auto show in April.

It will be built in South Korea and exported to China as a SsangYong.

Pricing is still under consideration. In South Korea, the Chairman W starts at 59 million won ($59,000) for the model equipped with an inline six engine. The engines and transmissions are provided by Mercedes-Benz.

SsangYong adds other high-end features to support the company's claim that the Chairman W competes with the Mercedes S class, BMW 7 series and the Audi A8.

The Chairman W, launched in Korea on Feb. 27, is a step up from the existing Chairman sedan, which competes mainly against Hyundai's Equus. The Chairman is popular among Korean business executives.
