The World Bank recently approved three loans, valued at $441 million last week, to support projects such as China's energy-efficiency financing project (in addition to $13.5 million from the Global Environment Facility) and the Shandong Smoke Desulphurization project.

The funds are aimed at helping China improve its energy efficiency and reduce power plant emissions. The amount of the three loans accounted for nearly one-third of planned loans that the World Bank will provide to China in 2008.
