Graduate sues company for reneging on job offer
(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-08-07 16:34 College graduate Zhou Long recently received 10,000 yuan ($1,460) in compensation from a company in Qinzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, that went back on its offer of employment after he had been diagnosed as a hepatitis B virus carrier, Modern Life News reported. The Guangxi University graduate signed an employment contract with a local company at a job fair last April after passing a mandatory written examination and interview. Zhou sued for compensation several months later when the company told him that he was not eligible for the job because he was a hepatitis B virus carrier. Qinnan District People's Court ruled in Zhou's favor because the defendant had violated relevant labor laws and regulations. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
