China Jan imports of refined copper fall 14.7% on month

China's imports of refined copper fell 14.7 percent to 180,490 tons in January versus 211,527 tons in December 2008, the official customs data showed on Monday.

The world's top aluminum producer also exported only 82 tons of primary aluminum in January, down from December's 46,364 tons.

China is the world's top consumer of copper and aluminum.

It imported 7,622 tons of refined nickel in January versus 10,765 tons in December.
