Ministry: China FX reserves to keep stable growth

Updated: 2009-04-15 15:13 China's foreign exchange reserves, the world's largest stockpile, will continue to grow in a stable fashion, a Commerce Ministry official said on Wednesday.
China's foreign exchange reserves rose by about $7.7 billion in the first quarter to $1.9537 trillion at the end of March, the smallest quarterly rise since the second quarter of 2001. Yao said China would use more of its forex reserves to help fund Chinese companies' investments in big projects overseas. Yao said he expected outbound investment from China to keep growing quickly in 2009 and that the government would roll out fresh measures to encourage small- and medium-sized firms to make forays abroad.
