Chinese equities opened mixed on Friday morning with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging down 0.14percent, or 3.85 points, to open at 2,841.17.

The Shenzhen Component Index advanced 0.11 percent, or 12.6 points, to open at 11,416.66.
