HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks closed down 209. 99 points, or 0.85 percent, at 24,500.61 on Wednesday.

Turnover totaled HK$109.28 billion ($14.10 billion) compared with Tuesday's  HK$116.70 billion ($1equals HK$7.752).
