Trade up between S China's Guangxi and ASEAN

NANNING - Trade increased rapidly between China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and ASEAN member states over the past 11 months, the local customs house reported Sunday.

China and ASEAN members form the world's largest trade zone which came into being Jan 1 this year.

Guangxi, bordering Vietnam in China's south, generated $5.4 billion in trade with ASEAN countries in the first 11 months, a rise of 29.4 percent on the same period last year.

Trade between the Guangxi and ASEAN accounted for 35.2 percent of the autonomous region's total trade volume in the 11 months, which included $3.73 billion of exports, up 24.2 percent year-on-year, and $1.67 billion of imports, up 42.6 percent.

According to the local customs house, Guangxi's foreign trade amounted to $15.35 billion in the first 11 months, up 26.8 percent year-on-year.

The region's top three trade partners are ASEAN, the United States and Australia.
