Beijing International Film Festival embraces 2.8b yuan in contracts

BEIJING - The ongoing Beijing International Film Festival has seen about 2.8 billion yuan in contracts (about $427.4 million) signed during a promotional fair for film industry-related projects, as of Tuesday.

The total amount contracted in the Beijing International Film Festival has already topped that contracted in all film festivals and related exhibitions ever held in China, said an official with the festival organizing committee.

Statistics show that 334 film institutions at home and abroad, and more than 800 professionals, attended the festival. One hundred institutions signed 256 contracts.

The Beijing International Film Festival proved to be a platform for world filmmakers and film festival chairmen to discuss developments in the industry, and for film buyers and sellers to share business opportunities, said Li Chunliang, director with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio, Film and Television.

As the highlight of the ongoing Beijing International Film Festival, the promotional fair for film industry-related projects kicked off on Sunday.

The First Beijing International Film Festival, April 23 to 28, was organized by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and the Beijing Municipal Government.
