Jiangsu garners more income form tourism

East China's Jiangsu province saw its tourism income grow 20 percent on average in each of the five years between 2006 to 2010, according to the provincial tourism bureau.

Investment in tourism sector in the 2006-2010 period was 3.5 times that in the 2001-2005 period.

A total of 58.85 billion yuan ($8.91 billion) was pumped into major tourist projects in the province from 2006 to 2010.

More than 4.2 million people worked for the industry at the end of 2010.

Last year, Jiangsu received more than 400 million visits from other parts of China, and garnered more than 400 billion yuan in income from them.
