BEIJING - China has become the third largest household paper market in the world after North America and Western Europe, industry data has shown.
The value of China's household paper market totals at least 50 billion yuan ($7.93 billion), according to statistics released at the 19th China International Disposable Paper Expo which concluded in Beijing Saturday.
However, the per capita consumption of household paper in the Chinese mainland is still lower than the global average of 4.1 kg, compared with 25 kg in North America, 15 kg in Japan and West Europe, and 10 kg in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, according to a report released at the expo.
Meanwhile, China's household paper industry has to address overcapacity and achieve a low-carbon model in production, the report said.
