Rising costs hit leather profits

China's leather and shoe industry realized a total profit of 7.5 billion yuan ($1.19 billion) in the first two months of 2012, statistics from the China Leather Industry Association showed on Thursday.
The number, though up 23.4 percent year-on-year, is 5.9 percentage points lower than at the end of 2011, according to the association.
