A bundle of activities was launched at the fifth China International Service Outsourcing Cooperation Conference to further tap the potential of the service outsourcing industry in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

The provincial association of service outsourcing enterprises in Jiangsu and its seven overseas counterparts signed an agreement to cooperate in this field at the conference on June 19.

At the conference's summit forum, top management from the world's leading service outsourcing companies shared their views on the trend of global service outsourcing, the success and strategies of overseas service outsourcing companies, and their solutions for China's service outsourcing industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).

The conference launched special seminars for major service outsourcing sectors, including biomedicine, finance and banking, and telecommunications.

Noticeably, it was the first time for the telecom industry to take part in the conference.

Representatives from China's three mobile carriers - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - and other telecom companies attended the seminar to discuss possible patterns and means of delivery for service outsourcing in this sector.

The Nanjing municipal government also promoted its special platform for the service outsourcing industry at the conference, saying that the city will spend at least 100 million yuan ($15.87 million) every year to support this industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

The conference gave awards to the top 10 service outsourcing companies and recognized 100 growing enterprises in China in the industry. It also revealed the list of People of the Year with Remarkable Contributions to China Outsourcing.

Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce contributed to the stories.
