Green products and technologies show kicks off

China's most influential international exhibition of green industries is held at the China Import and Export Fair from Friday to Sunday in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

The China International Green Innovative Products & Technologies Show 2012 attracts around 400 enterprises, 21 out of which are Fortune 500 companies, occupying an exhibition area of 40,000 sq m.

This is the second time the green product show has taken part at the China Import and Export Fair. The first time, in November 2011, received letters of congratulations from Premier Wen Jiabao, and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

This time, the green product show received support from more government departments, including the State Intellectual Property Office, the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and governments of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shanghai.

The China International Green Innovative Products & Technologies Show 2012 is jointly hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, United Nations Environment Programme, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and received support from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Commerce, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the State Intellectual Property Office and the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and local governments of Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian and Shandong. It is presented by the Guangzhou city government and the China Foreign Trade Center.

The National Development and Reform Commission will set up an exhibition area for energy performance contracting enterprises to display their energy-saving solutions.

The State Electricity Regulatory Commission, on the other side, will encourage China's grid companies to take part in the exhibition, and thus smooth the communication between producers of green technology devices and power generation companies.

The State Intellectual Property Office will display new research and development progress; and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will bring clean production techniques applied to light manufacturing, chemical producing and nonferrous metal industries.

The provincial governments will organize leading enterprises to participate in the show. The show will also see 12 high-level seminars, three sourcing conferences and press conferences and other meetings to enhance exchanges on green products.

The Ministry of Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission, together with the UN, will host sourcing conferences to explain purchasing procedure and standard environmental goods and services of the UN and the bidding process of environmental goods in international aid.
