German testing and certification company TUV Rheinland is planning to build even more laboratories to further expand its business in the Chinese mainland, the company said on Wednesday.

"TUV Rheinland will not only provide a first-class international testing and certification service to export-oriented companies to explore the world market, but also further expand its testing and certification business in other industries to help domestic companies to expand their business in the near future," said Yushun Wong, vice-president of TUV Rheinland Greater China and managing director of TUV Rheinland (Guangdong) Ltd.

The expansion will be achieved by purchases and mergers.

Wong did not reveal details on how many new laboratories will be built or purchased in the Chinese mainland before the end of year.

"With the domestic market opening up to foreign companies, TUV Rheinland will spare no effort to expand its co-operation with relevant government departments to increase its presence in the domestic market," Wong said in a ceremony to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary in Guangzhou.

TUV Rheinland has built 43 laboratories across the Chinese mainland, mostly in the prosperous coastal provinces and municipalities.

In its role as an independent third party, TUV Rheinland tests and certifies technical systems, produces and service, supports projects and designs process for companies on the basis of statutory specifications and standards.
