Voith GmbH, Germany's mechanical engineering product manufacturer, confirmed on Monday that there are technical issues in a particular type of Voith Gear boxes used in high-speed trains, which were delivered to China CNR Corp Ltd, one of the top Chinese train manufacturers.
The company said an international expert team is giving highest priority to fixing the problem in close consultation with its client. The team is in the process of providing a solution that will solve the issues as soon as possible.
China Business News on Monday had reported that 45 technical breakdowns such as cracks and bearing faults occurred on Voith's gearbox on the electric multiple units trains on high-speed rail lines of Wuhan-Guangzhou, Beijing-Shanghai and Harbin-Dalian after June, 2012.
China CNR Corp Ltd installed more than 100 new Voith gearboxes earlier this year, but it still found technical problems, according to the report.
To prevent safety risk, the German company is taking a number of measures in cooperation with its customer and China Railway Corp to ensure a safe and reliable operation.
