Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings Co Ltd, a Chinese company, has launched an ambitious plan to promote its household herbal brand, Wanglaoji, to the global market.

According to the plan, the Guangzhou-based herbal tea producer will register the Wanglaoji brand in 58 countries and regions and launch a research project based on international standard of Chinese herbal tea.

The company will also work with Nobel laureate Ferid Murad to launch a joint venture to produce a new herbal beverage, grenadine juice, which is integrated with advanced technology and traditional Chinese medicine.

The pharmaceutical firm has tied up with Al Ries, an international marketing company, which will help map out a strategic plan for Wanglaoji, it said.

"As a leading Chinese herbal brand, Wanglaoji should not only become China's Coca-Cola, but also emerge as the world's herbal tea," said Ries.

Sales of the Wanglaoji are expected to reach 20 billion yuan ($3.26 bilion) in 2014, according to the company.
