Synaptics, a leading developer of human interface solutions, said on Tuesday that it will pour more resources to rapidly boost the company's China team in research and development as well as sales in order to better serve Chinese smart devices manufacturers.

Rick Bergman, president and chief executive officer of the California-based company, whose touchscreen solutions are widely used in smart devices such as smartphones and tablets, said in a press conference in Beijing that the company will increase its R&D and sales resources in China by 30 percent every year.

"China is the word's largest consumer for smart devices. An increasing number of Chinese original equipment manufacturers are becoming key drivers in the global market as they expand their business overseas. It is very important for us to quickly respond to Chinese clients' demands and offer tailor-made solutions for them," said Bergman.

The NASDAQ-listed company has a strategy that is focused on high-growth markets. About two thirds of Synaptics's 1,700 employees are based in Asia. About 150 of them are in China.

According to Bergman, China market contributed roughly 15 percent of the company's total revenue of $948 million in the fiscal year 2014. He didn't reveal his target revenue for China market in the near future. But he said that they will definitely see that number increasing as six out of 10 smart devices OEMs are based in China.
