Outbound and inbound passengers transferring via Kunming, Yunnan province, can check their baggage right through to their final destinations from May 1, Kunming Customs said on Wednesday.
Kunming Changshui International Airport will be the fourth airport in the Chinese mainland to adopt such a policy following Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
At the first stage, China Eastern Airlines' flights to and from five overseas destinations-Paris, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as 15 domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, will be covered by the new policy.
It is estimated that over 500 person-trips per day will get benefit from this policy.
