Besides safety and quality, Otis is also committed to integrity as a core value that helps it stand out from its competition.

Respect and integrity

"As a company, we earn the respect of our customers, business partners, employees and other stakeholders not just on the merits of our products and services, but also on how we do business. Trust, respect and integrity are built into everything we do and everything we make at Otis," Delpech explained.

Otis has been installing and servicing elevators in China for more than a century, with its first elevator installation in Shanghai in 1900. The company now has three research and development centers and seven factories across the country. It operates in China through three brands — Otis, Xizi Otis and Express — and has about 15,000 local employees.

Among the landmark high-rise projects to which Otis is currently contributing are the 660-meter Ping'An Financial Center in Shenzhen, which will become China's tallest building when completed next year, and the 530-m Chow Tai Fook Center in Tianjin. Otis is also installing 113 elevators and escalators at the New Bund World Trade Center in Shanghai, 40 elevators at the 230-m twin-tower Suzhou International Fortune Plaza in Jiangsu, and 220 elevators and escalators at Guiyang Huaguoyuan, a 347-m twin-tower complex that will be the tallest building in western China.

Otis is also leading in the transport infrastructure sector.

Earlier this year, it won a contract to supply 395 escalators for 39 stations on Tianjin Metro Line 6, a vital new extension to the city's urban rail network. In addition, Otis was selected to provide 133 elevators and escalators for Chengdu Metro Line 7, an important addition to the city's subway network.
