China's pool and spa industry will grow rapidly in coming years as the country will rely more on the service industry to drive its economy, according to an industrial insider.

"Economic development will boost consumption, with a growing number of people looking for leisure services and more social funds being invested in the pool and spa industry," said Jing Hongbin, chairman of the Guangdong Bath Industrial Association.

More foreign investment, which has been put into the industry in recent years, will help boost development, according to Jing.

"Pool and spa facilities, such as massage bathtubs, will also become household necessaries as Chinese people are demanding comfortable leisure services," said Jing.

The Asia Pool and Spa Expo will be held from May 13-15 next year in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

The annual event, first launched in 2005, will include more than 300 domestic and overseas companies and about 3,000 professional buyers.

"There will be more buyers and producers from the ancient Maritime Silk Road and Silk Road Economic Belt to participate in the expo, aiming to facilitate regional cooperation and boost Chinese producer's presence along the ancient trade routes," said Jing.
