Xiaomi has ranked first in wearable device shipments in the Chinese market for the second quarter, according to a report released by market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) on September 5.
Shipments of wearable devices on the Chinese market amounted to 9.54 million units in the second quarter, up 13.2 percent from the previous quarter and 81.4 percent from the same period last year, according to the IDC.
Basic wearable devices, namely wristbands, children's watches and smart shoes, surged 92.1 percent year-on-year, while smart wearable devices, including smart watches, edged up 3.4 percent.
"Unlike overseas markets where the main function of basic wearable products is fitness tracking, basic wearable devices on China's market are more abundant in varieties and functions, which drives the rapid expansion of the market," said Xiao Jing, research manager of the wearable devices market of IDC.
Let's take a look at the top five wearable devices brands.
