Internet of Cars: opportunity emerges for national brands

The Internet of Cars concept has a bright future as computer technology is now more advanced, possessing an even greater intelligent design. In the future, car drivers will be able to take advantage of the auto industry's electronic intelligence capabilities.

The Internet of Cars idea is not new and has actually been around for several years. The concept involves creating a car network by placing an electronic tag in an automobile which can send information the car collects on an information platform website via wireless radio frequency identification technology.

Car networking will also be capable of monitoring driving conditions and can offer comprehensive services, thus allowing car owners to either relax and enjoy themselves or even work while driving.

The concept has created a new opportunity for Chinese car brands to cooperate with the developers behind a vehicle-mounted information system. It could give domestic automotive brands a chance to occupy dominant positions within the emerging automotive marketplace.

Apple said it has conducted tests with 12 automakers so far, such as Ferrari, BMW, and Toyota. And companies like Microsoft, Blackberry, Google, Linux, along with other automakers have also developed vehicle-mounted operating systems.
