US electric carmaker Tesla saw its revenue and deliveries surge in the second quarter of 2015, according to its quarterly financial statement released on Thursday.

Its financial statement said the company's sales revenue totaled $1.2 billion in the second quarter, a 39 percent surge year-on-year, and a record-high 11,532 Model S cars were delivered worldwide in the three months.

Tesla said it plans to open another four new stores in China as orders from the country have been on the rise, although no details about sales were provided.

Due to its popularity in China, orders from Asia-Pacific in the second quarter almost doubled from the first three months in the year, said Tesla.

Tesla said its SUV Model X will be delivered in two months and Model 3, a cheaper and smaller version of Model S, at the end of 2017.

The carmaker is making preparations at its Iowa plant to manufacturer batteries, which would be mass produced in the fourth quarter of 2015.
