Subaru will recall thousands of two of its imported models in China beginning from Aug 28, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The company will recall 49,056 units of its 2013 to 2014 models of the Forester that were manufactured between Oct 24, 2012, and May 10, 2014.

It will also recall 24,980 units of its 2012 to 2014 models of the SUBARU XV produced between Aug 23, 2011, and Dec 27, 2013.

Subaru said the windshield wipers, lighting system and car horns may lose efficacy in extreme circumstances. There is also a potential safety risk that the engines may sputter out during driving.
