A tiny router named Mi Wi-Fi nano was also introduced during the event.

With stronger and more stable signals compared to other mainstream routers, the Mi Wi-Fi nano can work for 30 hours when plugged to a 10000 mAh Mi Power Bank, said the company.

It's priced at 79 yuan and will also be available by tomorrow on mi.com.

Going global for the long haul

According to previous report by Xinhua News Agency, after a successful run in Asian markets like China, India, and Indonesia, Xiaomi consolidated its global ambitions with a second successful online flash sale on July 14 in Brazil.

Coupled with the first such event held on July 7, Xiaomi sold 10,000 Redmi 2 models and over 4,000 accessories.

Wang Jingwen, an analyst at industry research firm Canalys China told China Daily that selling devices outside China will help Xiaomi grow its global presence and ease dependency on home demand.

Although Xiaomi became the leading device maker in China in the second quarter, the company's 15.9 percent market share only had a slim edge over Huawei Technology Co Ltd's 15.7 percent, according to Canalys.

According to technology research firm IDC, Xiaomi had around 4 percent of the market share in India by the end of last year, lagging behind Samsung and local vendors such as Micromax Mobile and Lava Mobiles.
