Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has taken up a campaign against cancer, in a drive sponsored by Damiani jewellers.
The disease has plagued the Academy-award winning actress's family for long, for her dad, aunt, grandmothers and a young cousin died of it.
The 'Shakespeare in Love' star has said that she is confronting the evil genes by natural means.
"Cancer has been the curse of my family. I am challenging these evil genes by natural means," The Sun quoted her, as saying.
Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay singer Chris Martin, has said that in her home, everyone is a vegetarian and only organic soaps and cleaners are used. The 30-year-old star also makes it a point to protect her children from eating anything harmful.
"In my home we are all vegetarians and only use organic soap and cleaners. I want to protect my children from anything harmful in their food,' she said.
Paltrow has also accepted an offer to promote a perfume, if the maker donates 255,000 pounds to cancer research.
